DRIVERS AND TRENDS
The heavy industry segment covers a wide range of applications. Windtower manufacturing, beam manufacturing and earth moving equipment fabrication are amongst the most important application areas. Despite the variety of applications, there are common welding trends that apply in all of these industries:
- Higher productivity through higher deposition rates
- Higher productivity by means of achieving lower defect rates and fewer finishing tasks (grinding)
- Better traceability of the welding parameters

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Submerged Arc Welding, Flux Cored Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding are the dominating processes in the Heavy Industry. Required mechanical properties must be achieved in the as welded conditions.
