True Energy™ – A Better Way to Calculate Heat Input

True Energy™ is a proprietary Lincoln Electric technology that uses the digital control system embedded in each Power Wave® arc welding power source to measure and calculate the instantaneous energy put into a weld.

Customers can use this value, in conjunction with the length of the weld, to get the Heat Input. Heat input calculated using True Energy™ complies with the new ASME variable QW-409.1(c), which will be required for waveform controlled welding.

True Energy™ functionality is available for all Power Wave® platform machines manufactured since 2002. The only current exception is the first generation (Red) Power Wave® AC/DC 1000. Support for this model will be available soon.

Upgrading your current Lincoln Electric Power Wave® power source to display True Energy™ calculations is simple:

Visit powerwavesoftware.com/system/powerwave_powerfeed.asp, download the system update for your particular Power Wave® model and upload that software to your power source.

Contact your local Lincoln Electric sales representative or the Power Wave® team in Cleveland at 877-837-8145 for additional assistance.

Upgrade your PowerWave welder to display True Energy by running the system update at powerwavesoftware.com
