A GREAT WELD STARTS WITH EXCELLENT PREPARATION

Wind tower construction begins with plate steel cut, beveled and rolled into a cylinder, known as a can. Because of tower height and stresses, steel can be more than 50 mm thick at the base, tapering to 12 to 18 mm thick at the top. Cutting, beveling the weld joints and forming the plate steel are critical first steps.
