SkillsUSA Gets Underway in Louisville, KY

The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, runs June 20-24 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. More than 15,000 students, teachers and education leaders as well as supporting companies and trade association attend the conference, making an estimated $14M impact on the greater Louisville economy. California Adds $200M for Workforce Training

The state of California, with an economy that ranks 6th in the world by GDP, just added $200M to the state budget for workforce training. According to Van Ton-Quinlivan, vice chancellor for workforce and economic development at the California Community Colleges, “In our travels around California, we heard loud and clear about the need for more skilled workers.” The Strong Workforce Program requires colleges to collaborate with each other, industry and communities. Sixty percent of the funds will go directly to community colleges. MORE
