The Flextec® 350X Standard and Construction models and the portable LN-25X wire feeder are equipped with a groundbreaking new communications technology that is suited for the construction, barge and shipbuilding industries. CrossLinc™ Technology, noted by an 'X' in each product name, enables full voltage control at the wire feeder WITHOUT an additional control cable. Instead, voltage control commands are transferred between feeder and power source, even when hundreds of feet apart, using a standard copper WELD cable. MORE

Welding Project: Moose Weather Vane

This "How I Did It" project is a life-size moose weather vane that is little over 8-ft. tall at the top of the moose's 72-in. wide horns. He is mounted on a heavy trailer axle on a wheel and the counter weights are 50-lb. tractor weights. The weather vane is very well balanced and turns to face into even the slightest breeze. MORE

Lincoln Electric Hosts Annual Advanced Motorsports Welding Seminar

Lincoln Electric recently hosted some of the most prominent metal fabricators in the racing industry during the annual Advanced Motorsports Welding Seminar at our Cleveland world headquarters. Representatives from NASCAR, IndyCar, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), off-road racing, aviation and other related industries gathered for lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training. AC vs. DC

DC stick welding offers advantages over AC when welding steel, including smoother and more stable arcs, easier starts, fewer arc outages, less spatter and easier vertical up and overhead welding. DC positive polarity provides a high level of penetration into the steel. DC negative polarity results in less penetration but a higher deposition rate. But, as Welding Productivity Magazine notes, while DC stick welding is the go-to option, AC stick might offer a better solution in some cases. MORE

Pipe Dream as Reality

Life as a pipeliner isn't an easy, glamorous one. With each TIG root, hot pass, 7018 fill and cap come long days of sweat and fatigue. But the hours translate to pay.
