The tool calibration procedure ensures that the cameras know the exact configuration of the welding torch or tool that’s being used. It’s necessary to go through the tool calibration procedure in four different situations:
- When the equipment is first installed
- If the user is seeing consistent erroneous data that relates to position such as proximity
- If the output values seem to be incorrect, the jig may need to be recalibrated
- Every 30 days
Press the “Tool Calibration” button on the left side of the screen. This will bring up a list with tools that have been saved. See Figure 1
Press on the tool that needs to be calibrated which should highlight the tool. Then pres the “Edit” button on the left side of the screen. This will bring up the Tool Editor window. See Figure 2
Press the “Gear” icon next to the “Last Calibration Update” field. This will bring up a Calibrate Tool window that has instructions on how to prepare the tool for calibration (see Figure 3). This includes removing the nozzle and contact tip from the GMAW or FCAW weld tool.
When using a GMAW or FCAW torch, remove the nozzle. Using the provided calibration markers, place the marker in the end of the torch
as shown in Figure 4.
Hold the torch within the field of view of the equipment and pres the “Start Calibration” button on the Calibrate Tool window (Figure 3). The LEDS on the screen will start to blink. Figure 5
When the calibration has been completed, the Calibrate Tool window will display a checkmark and will say “calibration complete” (Figure 6). This window will automatically close.
When the Calibrate Tool window automatically closes, the tool editor window will still be open. The calibration needs to be saved, and this is done by pressing the “Save” button in the tool editor window. The “Save” button is highlighted in the image below. This will automatically update the “last calibration update” field with the current calibration date. Figure 7
