PBS NewsHour to Feature Lincoln Electric in Upcoming Episode
11 Jul 2011
CLEVELAND, July 11, 2011 – The PBS NewsHour recently visited Lincoln Electric’s global headquarters and manufacturing operations in Euclid, Ohio, to tape a story on the Company's performance-based culture and business model. The program's Business and Economics correspondent, Paul Solman, toured several locations within the manufacturing facility and spoke to employees about piecework and other aspects of a culture that has helped define the Company’s consistent growth over the years.
The news feature will also look at the profit-sharing program, which has been in place since 1934, and continues to this day.
NewsHour last visited Lincoln Electric in 1992, when the program focused on the Company’s Guaranteed Employment policy and annual bonus system that have long been the subject of business case histories taught around the world.
The Lincoln story is set to air nationally via PBS stations, and in Cleveland on WVIZ-TV, 6:00 p.m. ET, in the week ahead. Go to www.pbs.org and select your local listing for a schedule of when the piece will air in your region.
