Team UK ready for World Skills

06 Aug 2015

Lincoln Electric has been proud to welcome four World Skills Team UK members, and one Team Ireland member as they make their final preparations ahead of the prestigious international skills competition this month. Taking place in São Paolo, Brazil from 12th to 15th August, World Skills will see candidates from 72 different member countries compete in more than 45 different skills, ranging from bricklaying and welding, to cooking and floristry.

Team UK’s Christopher Hanson (Construction Metal Work), Harley Brian (Sheet Metal Technology), Patrick Devanney (Manufacturing Team Challenge) and Reece Taylor (Welding), as well as Team Ireland’s Owen Murphy (Welding) all visited Lincoln’s Aston based facility in Sheffield in July for some last minute advice and practice before flying out to São Paolo for the competition in early August.

Marketing Manager David Kirkwood has said, “We have been supporting these candidates for nearly two years. It has been a long journey since they were first selected as hopefuls and we wish them & all their fellow competitors good luck in São Paolo.”

The candidates will be accompanied to the competition by Lincoln Welding Instructor Santé Susca, as well as each team’s respective training managers.  Lincoln Electric will also be providing welding and fabrication equipment and consumables for use throughout the competition.
