Dan Husky and his wife are in the process remodeling their living room. Instead of purchasing a coffee table from a local furniture store, he suggested they make their own from a piece of granite or glass and a welded steel frame.
They found a 30-inch x 48-inch x 3/4-inch thick piece of granite and had the edges rounded. Dan purchased enough 1/2, 1-1/2, and 2-1/2-inch used tubular steel for the frame from his favorite salvage yard. He used a Lincoln Electric PRO MIG™ 140 wire feeder welder to fabricate the steel frame. He then cleaned the steel and clear-coated it for a rustic look.
Dan reports the finished table was a hit and he really likes using the PRO MIG™ 140. He is considering the addition of an AC/DC stick welder to his tool collection.
