Driveway Gate

Driveway Gate
by Kevin Voorhees of McKinleyville, California

I just completed my first real welding project and thought I would share the pictures.

My family has been asking for a rolling gate to cross our driveway and keep our little 140 lb. pup in the yard. Since the opening is a non-standard width and a correctly sized gate is not commercially available, out came my Lincoln Electric Power MIG® 180C wire feeder welder and .035" diameter wire. The finished gate is 17.5 feet long, almost 5 feet high, and took me about 25 hours to fabricate.

Never wanting just a normal everyday gate, I took inspiration from a large pumpkin spider out our back door and added a spider web to the center of the gate.

Your welder made this novice welder's gate project a breeze.  Now the only problem is the rest of the family is putting in orders for their own gates!

Thanks again for helping me turn my first project into a great looking entrance to our house.
