Rob Schuerer built this shed antler trap for harvesting deer antlers. In the winter, feed is placed in the middle of the trap and when the deer sticks his head in to eat, the bungee cords put pressure on the antlers. If the time is right the antlers fall right off. Otherwise, the deer continues on his way after getting his fill.
Rob fabricated the trap’s frame from 1/2-inch x 48-inch round bar and 1/8 x 1 x 36-inch flat steel. He used his Lincoln Electric SP-175 Plus wire feeder welder and the MIG process to weld it.
Note: Antler traps are illegal in some states; check with the authorities in your area before using one.
