Lincore® FROG MANG®

Flux-Cored Self-Shielded (FCAW-S)

Austenitic manganese alloys, producing tough, high-strength deposits that will work harden under impact. Used in applications with high impact and low abrasion.

DETAILS

Austenitic manganese alloys, producing tough, high-strength deposits that will work harden under impact. Primarily used for joining, repairing or building up manganese steel parts that need to be joined together or joining manganese to carbon steel, including railroad frogs, impact hammers, rotors and rock crusher rolls. Deposits thickness is unlimited and can be flame cut. Used in applications with high impact and low abrasion.

Feature.Products.PDP.DetailsMain.Features

  • Unlimited Layers – proper preheat and interpass temperatures and procedures required
  • Superior Work Hardenability – compared to standard austenitic manganese (Hadfield) steels
  • Excellent Operator Appeal easy slag removal and reduced grinding time

Feature.Products.PDP.DetailsMain.TypicalApplications

  • Bar, Bucket, Crush, Drag, Dredge, Hammer
  • Mix, Plate, Plow, Power Generation, Rail
  • Roll, Shovel, Teeth, Wheel

NOTES

Note
Remove all damaged and foreign material by the air-carbon arc gouging process and grinding. Ensure all defective metal is removed.
In the event hairline cracks remain at flangeway depth, use a 1/8 in diameter E308 stainless electrode, to tie up these cracks and avoid hot cracking during the buildup process.
Use only light amounts and do not build-up with E308 stainless. It is for use in emergency situations where no other alternative is available to repair flangeway cracks.
As with all austenitic manganese welding products, interpass temperatures should be limited to 260°C (500°F) maximum.
A stringer bead, or at most, a slight weave is recommended to limit heat build-up. Excessive heat build-up causes manganese carbide precipitation that damages the toughness of austenitic manganese.
